Mr Douglas Nizzero
Mr Douglas Nizzero is a Victorian-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty expertise in hip, knee, and trauma surgery. He treats a wide range of conditions affecting the hip and knee, with a focus on both joint preservation and joint replacement procedures.
Douglas completed his medical degree at Monash University, graduating with an honour’s degree in Medical Science. During his training, he undertook trauma research abroad in Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom. Following completion of his orthopaedic training and attainment of his specialist qualifications, he undertook further post-fellowship training to develop advanced subspecialty expertise.
His areas of expertise include knee preservation surgery such as ACL reconstruction, patella stabilisation, knee realignment, meniscal repair, and cartilage restoration. He also has advanced experience in robotic-assisted total and partial knee replacement, as well as direct anterior approach (DAA) hip replacement.
Mr Nizzero holds a public hospital appointment at Box Hill Hospital (Eastern Health), where he is actively involved in the emergency care of orthopaedic patients. He is also committed to education and plays an ongoing role in the training and supervision of orthopaedic registrars.
