Mr Richard Pennington

Mr Richard Pennington is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in all upper limb conditions: shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand, as well as orthopaedic trauma.

Richard obtained his medical degree from the Imperial College School of Medicine in London. His orthopaedic training was initially undertaken at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Orthopaedic training program which gained him Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons.

Richard has completed subspecialty fellowship training in Denver (USA), Melbourne and Sydney. These fellowships included shoulder, elbow and upper limb surgery, and sports reconstructive and trauma surgery. He also undertook a trauma fellowship at Nepean Hospital in Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Australian Orthopaedic Association, and a member of the Victorian Shoulder and Elbow Society.

Richard operates privately at Epworth Freemasons, Epworth Eastern, John Fawkner, Warringal Private and La Trobe Private Hospitals. He holds a public appointment at Eastern Health.

He is committed to evidence-based, multidisciplinary care, working collaboratively with allied health professionals to support each patient’s recovery and return to optimal function. He ensures he is at the forefront of modern surgical practice by actively keeping up to date with emerging technology including minimal invasive techniques and patient specific instrumentation. He is also passionate about education and actively contributes to training the next generation of medical professionals.
